Borough of Matawan Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update (3/16/2020)

Please be advised that in an effort to maintain a healthy and adequately staffed municipal police agency during the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Matawan Police Department will be limiting our public interaction when possible.  Non-emergent matters may still be reported to the police by calling our non-emergency number at (732) 566-1010.  Due to current health concerns, effective immediately, a determination will be made by the shift supervisor as to whether an officer will respond to your location or contact you via telephone.  This will apply to various incidents including the taking of minor reports etc. but will not affect our response to emergencies, serious offenses and crimes in progress.

Once it is determined that a response by an officer is warranted, please know the officers will be keeping the recommended social distance of six feet and may be wearing personal protective equipment.

Additionally, please avoid any unnecessary visits to Police Headquarters.  Copies of crash reports and most other Records Division functions can be accomplished online by visiting www.matawanpolice.org.

Please be assured that although we have to resort to these temporary measures during this worldwide pandemic, the men and women of the Matawan Police Department stand ready to continue to provide a safe community to our residents.

Thank you for your cooperation as we strive to accomplish our goal of maintaining a healthy Police Department without enacting any contingency or mutual aid plans.
