Borough of Matawan Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Statement 2 (03/13/2020)
The Mayor & Council, Borough Administration, and the Office of Emergency Management are closely monitoring the developing situation involving the COVID-19 Pandemic. Upon receiving guidance from federal, state and local health agencies, the Office of Emergency Management has directed that all non-essential meetings of boards, commissions and committees and any activities of local civic and youth organizations normally held at the Matawan Municipal Community Center, be suspended until further notice. As of now, in an effort to provide continuity of government operations, municipal offices remain open.
The Borough receives regular updates from various County, State and Federal agencies and remains in regular contact with officials from the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District and the Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management. The Borough is prepared to take appropriate actions to protect the public health and safety of the Matawan community.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is the respiratory illness caused by a new virus that first emerged in December 2019. The NJ Department of Health (NJDOH) is leading the state’s response to COVID-19 and is working closely with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
